If you don’t like guitars, you probably won’t like Earthless. Sure, the San Diego band are a very good rock ’n’ roll trio with a deep-groove rhythm section; Mario Rubalcaba drums inOFF! and used to play with Rocket from the Crypt, while bassist Mike Eginton moves from side to side with a rich and bulbous tone. But the reason to show up-- hell, the reason this band exists-- is so that Isaiah Mitchell can let his strings and his pedals, his fingers and his knobs, run high above the rumble below. If you like guitars, you probably like Earthless a lot, then, since when Mitchell's as unhinged as he is here, he's a phenomenal player.
